Oh I wish.  Just saw it during my daily drool fest on that site, thought I'd throw it here, since someone here probably wants one.

I hope your right and I made a great investment. I got mine 2 years ago for $850 I think, and its a combo.

That's a fair price/close to market value for a combo right now. Hang onto it, it'll go up in value. I've seen some for over $1k. Depends on the stripe and condition, obviously.

If $850 is a fair price for the Combo, why don't you think the Head listed on Reverb.com is overpriced at $1100?
Combo amps generally cost more, especially one with an EVM12L.
Or do you mean that both are in the 'normal' price range?

I agree I also see them listed in the $1000-1200 range, but they seem readily enough available in the $800-1000 range and these things are built likes tanks (I eventually had a tech look at mine just for the hell of it and he said everything was perfectly fine still). There was a combo listed on craigslist for $1100 for many months, not sure if it eventually sold or the seller gave up, but now there is a head listed for $900.

For what's it worth, I paid $950 for my Mark III Purple Stripe at a local shop. It was an 1 owner amp, and had ALL documentation, original tubes, new tubes, the order sheet from Mesa Boogie, the works. But I traded my Express 5:50 for the Mark III. Doesn't matter what you pay, as long as your happy with the deal you got. The Express 5:50 is a great amp, it was just too sterile sounding for my tastes.

I think the heads are harder to find and more desirable, butt hats just my opinion. I don't really love the sound of the combo, I don't feel the cabinet is big enough to let that speaker do it's job. But again that's just me. I've owned both and find the amp needs a nice 2x12 to let it breathe a little. I think that anywhere in the $700-$1200 range is acceptable depending on condition & model.

"butt hats, just my opinion" should replace "my two cents" in our lexicon.

Makes sense. I've tried mine in many formats: head with 212, head with 112, combo. I keep going back to 1 EVM12L over 1 or 2 Celestions and just went back to the combo over the head + cab format, but not for sound so much as I'd rather carry one real heavy thing rather than two pretty heavy things. I agree that $700-1200 is probably the range MKIII's come in, for a head, I'd hope it has nice tubes at least ;)
