Pure Nickel Strings

Does anyone here use pure nickel strings? I'm in search of strings that feel more substantial under my fingers if that makes sense. I recently tried flatwounds and liked the feel a lot. They don't feel as mushy. But I didn't like the tone. I'm wondering if pure nickel may be the way to go. I'm thinking of trying these:

Anyone have experience,  especially on a solidbody?

I'd like to try pure nickel but it's such a price difference I haven't made the endeavor.... I'm pretty sure Derek Trucks uses pure nickel strings.

that actually kind of scares me more. Reading abut flatwounds a lot of folks said, for rock solidbody, they are really only good for slide. So if Trucks is using pure nickel it doesn't convince me the tone will be much more to my liking than the flats.

I use these exact strings.  I love them! My favorite so far.  More than DR's

I need to get my guitar professionally set up due to a number of issues, not the least of which is a broken tuning peg. If I got it set up for the pure nickel strings, is there a significant tension difference that would cause me problems if I went back to nickel wound?

Don't mean to butt in but I think the tension difference is mainly in gauge changes I would think. material wouldn't necessarily matter unless it's like nylon and steel (your face.) This is just speculation though.

There's definitely SOME tension difference,  but it's not as significant as changing guage. But is it enough to be a concern.  I'll probably just ask at the shop.

Yeah for sure. From what I'm reading on TGP the tension difference is whether or not the pure nickel string is a semi-flatwound like the GHS branded ones. Here's the link: http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=1018963

I thought I'd provide a little update.  I switched a few months ago from DR 10s to D'Addario Pure Nickel 11-48 and I couldn't be happier. Has really made a significant difference in both my playing and tone.

I have a $200 credit at analogman, and i was curious if anyone had any suggestions on how to use it.  I basically like my setup, one ts9, a Ross, a small stone, and a ditto repeater.  I was thinking about a black cat vibe, but it might be a bit overkill w/ the small stone.  Anyone have any suggestions?

cant hurt to wait, he had a picture of his pedal board on facebook a couple weeks ago and it has/had a prototype analogman envelope filter.

I do love envelope filters.  Didn't realize trey added one, they're awesome.  I've had the credit like 2 years, and if i don't spend it i'm sure i'll just forget about it and never use it.  Thanks for the suggestion, its a good one.
