I know Brian Brown custom makes the cables he uses throughout his rig.  However,  the outer jacket (meaning, the metal case that screws into the 1/4 inch jack and protects the wires) on the cable that actually plugs into his guitar appears thicker than the rest of his cables. 

Has anyone ever noticed this?  If so, what kind of cable is that?

They might still use George L wire and in which case they are two wire gauges. They probably went back to a more preferred jack since the George L ones are so small.
