Twist Around
By: Phish
Tabbed by: Gavin Sardella
Now I’m lead to believe this is the real way to play twist, I’ve
studied Trey’s Chord formations and what not. Mainly Rochester ’99 and
Austin city limits, although I’m not sure what chords they are, they
seem to fit perfectly and sound pretty close to the recording.
Intro
E-------------
B--1--1--1----
G--2--0--0----
D--3--2--0----
A-----3--2----
E--------3----
Trey sometimes plays this live and sometimes doesn’t, but it’s a nice
intro to the song,Verse/chorus
E-------------------------------
B--------10----3\--5\----7-7----
G---------9----3\--5\----7-7----
D--------11----3\--5\----7-7----
A--------12----5\--7\----9-9----
E-------------------------------
Woo!
During the verse use a light palm mute while playing,
Chorus intro
E------------------ -----------------
B----5---3-----10-- 3\--5\----7-7----
G----5---3------9-- 3\--5\----7-7----
D----5---3-----11-- then start up with 3\--5\----7-7----
A----3---5-----12-- 5\--7\----9-9----
E------------------ -----------------
Woo!
Solo:
Now, I’ve tried my best and I know it’s not right. But it gives
somewhat of an idea of what’s going on and how to play it.
E---10^-10^--10^--10^8----8----------8-12-----
B----------------------10---10—8—10-8---------
G---------------------------------------------
D---------------------------------------------
A---------------------------------------------
E---------------------------------------------
E----12—10-10p8-----------8--12
B------------10--8—10----------
G------------------------------ Repeat twice, then jam out as u wish.
D------------------------------
A------------------------------
E------------------------------
Listen to the recording in order to get the tempo and the parts down.
I tabbed this to the best of my ability, with visual aid. So please
email me at harpua31@hotmail.com subject: twist tab, (otherwise I’ll
never get it) with any comments, corrections, criticism or concerns.
Thanks Gavin.

Twist Around

from Tyler Rickers

This is pretty much a standard 12 bar blues, though it gets kind of funky.
Listen to a recording for timing information, as usual.
Progression Number:
[--I--] [--II--] [--III--] [--IV--] [--V--]
F C G F C C C Bb G F C D C F G
E--3--3--3----3--3--3-----------(3)---3--3--2-----0--1-(3)
B--1--1--0----1--1--1----5--3----3----1--1--3-----1--1--0-
G--2--0--0----2--0--0----5--3----4----2--0--2-----0--2--0-
D--3--2--0----3--2--2----5--3----5----3--2--0-----2--3--0-
A------------------------3--5----5------------------------
E-------(3)-----------------------------------------------
Mike Plays something like this:
E----------------------------------------------
B----------------------------------------------
G----------------------------------------------
D---5------3-----------------------------------
A------5------3--------------5----1----3-------
E-------------------------------------------3--
[I]
We Spoke innane, for many days
[III]
Pronouncing it in several ways
[II] [I]
And moving letters all around
[IV] [V]
And substituting every sound
And when you heard the end result,
I told you it was not my fault,
If you were here more of the day,
It wouldn't twist around that way....
Chorus
E-------------------------------------------------------------
B---3----3----5---3-----------------------------------------------
G---4----3----5---3-----------------------------------------------
D---5----3----5---3-----------------------------------------------
A---5----5----3---3h5-------------------------------------------------
E---3----------------------------------------------------------
Wouldn't twist around (wouldn't twist around) that way Whoo!
(Repeat Chorus)
Piano Break
G Bb C (X3)
(Chorus Again)
Then do a funky post '96 Phish jam in the key of G (pentatonic?)
until the crowd is in a trance then come back with the Whoo!'s
and the chorus.

Hey all, I have been playing Twist for a while, and now the arrangement is
different and really makes it easier to play as a guitarist, Trey's slacking
:)
Intro:
F>C>G
F>C>G
F>C>G
I spoke inane for many days
F>C>G
Pronouncing it in several ways
Main part:
listen to a recording for timing info:
E
B 3 3 3 5 5 7 7
G 4 3 3 5 5 7 7
D 5 3 3 5 5 7 7
A
E
And then
let each chord ring out
E whew!
B 5 3 3
G 5 3 4
D 5 3 5
A
E
The jam is over the main progression, I like to build it up and then slide
down 12 frets to the main progression and play it there to climax.
Enjoy
Tom
