Below, from right to left, we have a low serial num., circa 1979 Ross compressor, the Barge Concepts RC-3, and, finally, a stock analogman comprossor.











Now, in playing all three of these -- one at a time, for a consistent three weeks or so -- I can at least say that the Barge Concepts unit is just about the worst compressor pedal ever invisioned, let alone manufactured as such.  In truth, until you actually examine the circuit board, and see its thoughtless design characteristics -- crampiness;  tiny metal film resistors throughout; all metal film capacitors [hence, no warmth whatsoever to its resultant sound] -- you may wonder why the volume (output) control only works up to about half-way; that is to say, in other words, output rises more or less steadily from about 6 o'clock to 12 o'clock on the potentiometer but afterwards turning the output dial up does not translate into any audible increase in the actual output of the unit itself.

And to make matters worse, the company propagates the following image as representative of all their compressors:



Does *anyone* actually have a Barge Concepts RC-2 or RC-3 that looks like this one on the inside.  I doubt it...
