Title: Luthiers to fix my up-bow
Post by: cactuskeeb on August 01, 2013, 08:10:31 PM
Hey

So I'm looking to replace the truss rod in my guitar because it's one way and the relief is getting crazy high (too much up bow is drawing the strings on the higher frets away from the neck, making it harder to play).  I live in NC and some sources are not responding.  Can anyone recommend a good luthier/repair person?  Doesn't have to be local.

EDIT: One way truss can't be tightened any further.  Hence my problem.

If you're anywhere near NYC, talk to Evan Gluck.  He's done repairs for many friends of mine, and a setup for me.  Excellent guy who does excellent work.

If you're in SoCal, my buddy says Eric's Guitar Shop is awesome (my guitar was set up there, and pretty nicely done).

If it were my guitar, I'd probably send it back to Artinger. Is bench fee is a bit steep, but an excellent luthier (and he's in PA).

I wonder if Artinger would work on guitars that he didn't build...

Otherwise I would look for a local one with decent reviews.
Near me, Manella is good. In NC (if he is still there) Paul Morley is good.

Maybe hit the Gear Page, lots of NC'ers there.

Thanks, guys.  I'll check into those listed -- SoCal is a bit far though ;)

Sourd, I emailed AO but he hasn't gotten back to me.
