I have been using a Boss CS-2 compressor for many years and haven't tried any other compressor. Was just wondering if anyone knows about the difference between the Boss and the Ross or can compare the Boss to another compressor?

Welcome to the forum man.  Do a search for "compressors" on here...there's a ton of info that others have contributed to.  I would recommend getting rid of that Boss though.  I am not a fan, and there are many others out there that would be better, I think.

Welcome man.  I had a Boss CS-3 for over 10 years but that's before I did my research.  It wasn't terrible but it's not great especially at the high compression setting.  I ended up modding mine for fun which made it really transparent.  It was good for light compression, you couldn't even tell it was there.  But like we all say, try to upgrade to something better.  I still have many comps to try so I'm no expert.  I use a rack studio compressor in my rig and it's actually great but that's just cuz i'm saving up for a nice Ross clone.

Id get a Keeley Compressor before you spend half a grand on a Ross. Thats like saving up to buy a Klon Centaur when you could just get a Tube Screamer or 2.

What about any mods for the CS-2?

Sell the cs2and get somthing else . people will pay more for a cs2. especially if it is made in Japan . the black ross sounds as good as the grey and can be had for under $200. if money is an issue then grab an ibanez 10 series comp. they sound great for less than $100. for me the keeley is too transparent . also the late seventies dynacomps sound awesome . the Ross was a copy off the dynacomp .

MXR Custom Shop Dynacomp. Good compressor with True Bypass

Thanks...I'll look into this one.  Isn't the Custom shop Dyna Comp reissue similar to the Ross?

Im not real sure. All i know is that im not about to spend $500 on a Compressor pedal when a MXR Custom Shop Dynacomp doesnt effect my stone what so ever when its off or on. The issue i have with the reg Dynacomp is it adds low end to my tone and i dont like that
