What are you guys playing for acoustic guitars? I'm playing a taylor 414mace. I also like my 78 guild d25 and a 79 yamaha that I got at a yard sale a few years ago. I payed $50 for it, got home searched the model number and apparently it's the same one dave matthews uses in a couple of his videos. Not sure why he uses it. What are you guys playing?

Martin D-35 with a standard Martin bridge pickup and an LR Baggs M1A (soundhole).
They are both wired up and somehow blended at a single output. I love the fat V-necks on those guitars.

It's about time someone started a conversation about acoustics. The Trey acoustic solo shows in 99 are what initially got me into playing acoustic more than just something to strum on. I can remember how happy I was when Emil started posting tabs to some of the basic songs done acoustic songs back in the day. More recently at the Portland Trey show I remember being so excited to hear the acoustic set I may have talked Walker's ear off a bit analyzing Trey's acoustic setup. I got down close to see the basics. He was using a standard Fender Acoustisonic amp as a monitor of sorts (possibly using the line out). And if anyone cares, he had two pickups in the acoustic guitars and what appeared to be a preamp blender box going into a DI. The soundhole pickup he is using (at least on this tour) is made by Sunrise Pickup Systems. The acoustics were both Martin's, one Trey model and the other I could not tell exactly (Maybe a D something or other).

I really liked the more simple approach Trey took this go around (capo and all). The 99 tour he really got into some strange chord voicing's utilizing a lot of open strings when possible. Someone gave me a tape of the Trey Fillmore show back in 99 and I learned as much as I could of how those songs were done on acoustic.

Listen to some of the 99 shows specifically the opening of the Fillmore east. Great acoustic playing. If anyone has some of the 99 acoustic sets please let me know where to get them digitally. My Maxell XL II;s  are all wore the F$%* out.

I've got a nice Takamine cutaway G series from around 1998. It's served me well.

Nice. Almost the same exact situation for me. I would love a link to some decent copies of the 99 tour. Wore my tapes out too. Soundboards would be awesome so we don't have to hear the loud crowd. On my tapes it was always turn it up while he's playing, down when the crowd screams.

I've had a Martin DC-1E since '98.  Got it because at the time I was still into DMB and very into the Eric Clapton unplugged stuff.  Learned how to play alot of that stuff back then.  Now I'm not into playing much acoustic music anymore, but I pull her out occasionally and give her a little love when composing tunes, or just learning songs to use for music therapy sessions.  Everyone who's ever played my Martin always comments on it being one of the best sounding and easy playing acoustics they've had the pleasure of playing.  One of my best friends has borrowed it for gigs and even recorded an acoustic album with it.
Guitars: Fender Clapton Strat, Ibanez AS80, Ibanez AF75, Malden Holly Keyser [SD Jazz (neck), SD '59 (bridge)], Carlo Robelli USH-500HB, Martin DC-1E ('98), and a Peavey Grind 5-string bass.

Effects in chain: Whammy II (dry out to Korg Tuner), RMC6, TS-9 ('82), TS-808 ('81), Ross Compressor, Fulltone SupaTrem, Fulltone DejaVibe2, TC Elec Nova Repeater, Ibanez Digital Modulation Delay III (DML20), Boomerang+, Alesis Microverb I, H&K Rotosphere MkII --> amps.

Amps: Mesa Boogie MkIII Blue Stripe, Egnator Rebel 20 head > Mesa Boogie Road King 2x12 cab, Fender Blues Jr. Humboldt, Marshall VS102R, Fender Champion 600, and Fender Frontman 25R.

Effects currently not in chain: Ross Compressor (MIT), Keeley Compressor (2-knob), Keeley TS-9, and TS-9 ('82).

I play a Martin DC-16GTE, I actually do a fair bit of acoustic shows with my bandmate in the summertime.  So when I can't get the band booked somewhere, I'll do acoustic anyway.  I love my Martin, and if you treat those guitars right, it's a hell of an investment.

Can't believe there isn't any guitar porn in this thread yet!!!

Seriously...more guitar porn, let's go guys!!!

But my only acoustic is an old Ovation my wife bought me when I was first learning guitar.  Never got around to making the investment into another since I don't play acoustic all that much, but man if I had a nicer one I would probably play it a whole lot more, and would definitely incorporate it into our live shows.  There's a number of tunes we currently do that would benefit from an acoustic and a slew of others I'd love to bring in.  Maybe this is the first step!
Guitars: Resurrection Phishy Hollowbody (koa top/back, cedar sides, Schaller Golden 50 pups, 2 series/single coil/parallel switches), Gibson SG Faded, Dean Evo, Fender Tele, Ovation Acoustic, Fender Acoustic

Loop 1: Whammy II > Nova Delay
Loop 2: Alesis Microverb (reverse) > Ibanez DM2000 > CAE Super Trem > Black Cat Vibe
Loop 3 Boomerang+
Tuner: Boss TU-3

Effects not in use:  Voce Spin II (leslie sim), Boss DD6, Digitech RPM-1 (leslie sim), Analogman Orange Squeeze, Keeley 4knob Comp, Ernie Ball Volume Pedal, Super Hard On (boost), Ibanez AW7 (autowah), Denelectro French Fries (autowah) - If interested in any of these PM me.  Always willing to deal.

I guarantee you would on both counts.  I've just started a new project, and we kind of have two guitar players who can definitely "get it done" when it comes to lead I feel.  So I will be playing my Martin, (who has been named 'Hilton' btw) in songs that I feel it would benefit.
