Has anyone tried this or compared it with a tubescreamer? Apparently it has nearly identical circuitry to a TS9 (complete with the JRC4588), but there is an extra diode in the clipping route giving it asymmetric clipping vs the symmetric clipping of a tubescreamer. Asymmetric clipping should lead to a different harmonic emphasis (from what I understand, more transparent at equal gain and less fuzzy), but I haven't heard or found an a/b, and I'm far away from any decent music shop to try them out.

Cool.

SD-1 = Bright and sharp
TS = Warm and compressed

Seems like having both would be great.

I guess I'll pick one up and if I don't like it, I can mod it to TS-808 and either keep it or sell it for a small profit.
