Title: My rig so far
Post by: TheCrimsonKing on November 06, 2009, 02:51:05 PM
Hello fellow musicians, I too am searching for the holy grail of tones. I'm pretty pleased with my set up so far:

Guitar - Gibson SG menace >

Amp - Vox AC15 Clasic Combo >

Pedalboard- AnAlOgMaN modified TS9-Tubescreamer > Boss CS-3 Compression Sustainer > Maxon AF-9 Auto Filter > Boss DD-20 Giga Delay

I'm still looking for a more diverse sound...I'm thinking about an Octave pedal, chorus, maybe flanger.

Any suggestions for pedals or the order I have mine set up?

Any feedback is appreciated!!  I'll get some pics up as soon as I get a new digital camera

Pedal order looks good, but I'd trade that Boss CS-3 in for something better.  It's not too bad a pedal, just that there are much bettrer ones out there.  Keeley makes a nice comp (2 or 4 knob).

I've been checking out some videos on Youtube and I think I might buy the BBE Mind Bender and the Soul Vibe. They sound good and they're pretty inexpensive.

If you're thinking of getting an octave pedal, you might as well get some form of a digitech whammy. If you have plenty of money, get a whammy1 or whammy2. If you're broke you can pick up an old digitech rp3 for cheap. The rp3's sound pretty good for the $50 or $60 bucks you spend on it. They were made around the same time as the XP100 whammy/wahs were made and they sound just as good. Plus they have a bunch of other effects too. As far as compressors go BARGE CONCEPTS makes a great ross clone for a reasonable price. I like my analogman bicomp. I sold my vintage ross when i got it. Another fun bang for your buck pedal is the digitech ex-7 expression factory. It has the whammy, space station, leslie, ada flanger, univibe, 2 different wahs. And it models all the famous dirt boxes too.

Replaced the Maxon AF-9 with an MXR Phaser, sounds much better. Was not impressed at all with the AF-9, maybe it was just mine or settings/order on my pedalboard because I could just not get a decent sound of it.

That is a nice looking acoustic. I never have really played anything with nylon strings other than my sons uke. Try putting that auto filter first in line after your guitar.

Thanks! I put the AF-9 in front of all the other pedals and it actually made a big difference, Still not sure if I really want it on my board or not.
