I was there...and can confirm it's sickness. Soooo nice to see Chalkdust stretched out like they did here, and I wish they'd do it more often. They've done it a few times at least (another I can recall was the NYE run in Miami '03 which I was also at...if I remember correctly it was Chalkdust>Slave>Chalkdust) and when they do stretch it out it always seems to go in these crazy places. By not doing the ending, the song creates a great platform for a jam.
i think he used the Nova Repeater at one point. It had a slight reverse swell effect. Sounded like a synth. Did you catch that?
No I hadn't noticed, but I was on the lawn that night so couldn't see shit. That jam is smokin' though, I'm really glad they released this video.
Speaking of...can anyone tell me what effect he's using at the 12:14 mark in this video? I think it's the Boomerang, and if so, what is the effect or setting being used here? I've always wanted that sound in my arsenal but have never figured it out. If it is the 'rang, this might be the thing that forces me to go out & buy one. :o
Wow, that is a sick version, one of the most experimental I've heard. That does sound like Boomerang, but no idea on settings, dont have one.

Turns out it's his trem. I've since purchased one and have been enlightened by the beauty of a trem! I need to get it out of the chain though as I'm noticing a tone difference with it in there.

I get this same effect on my Digitech GNX4 which calls it an LFO (Low Frequency Oscillator) and it's the square wave feature. You can also pick from triangle and sine wave, but the square is the best because it's completely on and off at whatever rate you set. I set it up so that my expression pedal dictates the rate so i can go from fast to slow or anywhere in between. I'm sure this square wave is available on many other tremelo type units. Quite fun indeed.

The next time I see you I'll give you that 2 loop pedal.
