Can't wait to get her home from the shop tomorrow and bring it out tomorrow night. It went in because I seemed to be getting a volume loss here and there throughout a full night. Turned out to be nothing major, only about $17 bucks in parts and she's all tuned up ready to go! I should mention that she is a 68' Super Reverb Silverface. I've been in love with this amp since the very first chord I played through it and its just been a great amp, never let me down. Now that my work season is winding down I'll have time to reorganize my pedal situation and I'll get some photos and vids of it up on here for you guys. Happy Friday Fellas!
Love the fender amps! Are the supers 4 10" speakers? What speakers do you have in it? It's a good thing all the hype is about blackface because great silverface amps can be had for very reasonable prices. Speaking of hype, I went and saw Walker's band last night at a great venue, The Port City Music Hall(I'm going to see Mike Gordon at the same place in a couple of weeks), and his rig sounded awesome in that place and he uses a hot rod deluxe. Go figure. No vintage, no boutique, no handwired, just a HRD. I guess he just knows how to tweak it.
Yeah, supers are 4x10s. I believe the only blackface mod this amp has is a bias control, I guess the silverfaces didn't have that feature. I've had Jensen speakers in it as long as I've had it. Hot rods are great amps as well, had one as one of my first amps and traded it for something...can't remember but I'm sure I got hosed!

Oh I have a HRD. It collects dust in the basement because it just never sounded the way I wanted. Walker does some voodoo shit to his or something.

Hahahaha...honestly I think I just got a good one. I bought it off an old friend who was a drummer...maybe he voodoo'd it...? But in all seriousness, the only thing I've done to this thing is add a Tone Tubby, some Groove Tube 7's, and an old 60's era RCA NOS preamp tube in the first position. That's it. I love the overdrive on this amp, which is probably the main reason I haven't gotten rid of it yet. It really allows solos to cut right through the mix; I liken it to surfing on top of the music. I will say that, with the hollowbody, taming the feedback is like trying to tame a wildly pissed off lion who just got slapped in the sack, but it also allows for some fun too (once you figure out how to ride the wave).
Hey Sour D, thanks again for coming down, great seeing you & the Mrs's and I really hope you're enjoying your new 'Doc! I miss her already! =)
