I know this gets debated over and over.  This is just for fun.  I'm curious what the percentages are.  You have to vote to see the results :P

I kinda think it is a Crybaby as they say. Just cause I don't understand why they wouldn't give Teese cred otherwise. I think I read on here somewhere they went through tons of crybabies to find the right one.

Yep someone posted the Brian Brown told them they went through many many.  I can believe that.  I had a standard cry baby for years and it sounded just fine.  I just wanted some extra perception on the matter.  Some dudes out there are swearing it's an RMC (some bloggers).  They just can't back it up.

There are a lot of threads about Phish and the RMC wah. I use an RMC3 and I have it dialed in to a Moma Dance type tone pretty closely. I remember reading that Trey bought a kit from Teese and put it into a shell, this was before the company began making their own shells. Of course, Trey could've swapped out the RMC for a crybaby during 2.0.

Mind sharing your settings?

Last night I did a "Q" mod which was swapping the usual 33K resistor (I already had a 68K in there) for a 100K resistor.  This really made the wah better.  It makes the Q sharper and more quack like.  You know that Moma Dance quack that you all love.
This was a result of me buying 50 different value resistors in bulk on ebay so that I can just start experimenting with all the popular mod resistors.  I think this Q mod is one of the best for my wah to date.
After this mod and how "Trey" it sounds, I tend to think that his Q (or vocal mod) resistor is of a high value.  If he bought it used, maybe someone did mod it without them noticing.  Or maybe all of his wah pedals are modded but you'll never get a look inside.  If you look at my pedal from the outside, you could never tell that I've basically gutted and re-soldered the whole damn thing.

Awesome info as always, glad to hear the experiment went well! I am tuning my RMC3 some more today and I'll try to crank the Q on that and see how it sounds.

Cool I hope it helps.  The RMC pedals look daunting in all the possible combinations.

A suggestion: Set up a dry guitar loop in front of the wah and keep it going.  Play that way with two free hands.  Adjust one setting at a time and play the wah.  Turn on your OD pedal too to see if the OD likes that setting.

Like all good process engineers, you only change one variable at a time and compare the outcome.  You will get to your happy place way faster this way and it won't be frustrating.  Oh also keep a record of your settings in case you want to revert for any reason.

Right on, I do use the Rang to set up a 9th chord on repeat and fiddle with the wah, but recording my settings sounds like a great, often overlooked tip in my case.

The mods continue; input 150k, bass 300 ohm.  Just did this one.  Don't mind the clipping in the recording (iphone's fault).  Enjoy.
