Need a good one, like top of the line good
On TGP I know a bunch of guys use the Strymon Timeline. If you're looking for something with a more simple set of controls take a look at the Empress Superdelay. I have only heard positive things in reviews and such. On the other hand, I totally love my MXR Carbon Copy now that I've figured out how to accurately move the controls with my feet. I use it to create pitch bend sort of effects by adjusting the Delay (time) control while the Regen. (repeats) control is around 2:30, analog oscillations with the Regen. in its higher range, and traditional delay sounds.
Line 6 DL4. You can have 3 preset delays plus tap tempo and a looper
I cant speak highly enough about my TC Nova Repeater. The Nova Delay is similar but more robust with 9 presets.
The analogman dual delay is a pretty sweet item, 2 delays in one pedal.
The Eventime space factor is also mentioned as top tier in the pedal market
I've been very happy with my TC Nova Repeater as well.
Not a fan of the Line 6 DL4. I worked at guitar center for 2 months and sold 3 of them. One came back defective (and the customer did not exchange for another one), and another customer returned his because he didn't like the tone. My own opinion, while I like the features, it really does have a negative effect on tone.
I doubt this fits into the "top of the line good" category, but I've always enjoyed messing around with the Way Huge Aqua Puss. You can get some really cool sounds out of it!
I've heard good and bad things about the Line 6, but the worst is the quality of construction and that they break easy. Boo.
I like my Nova Delay (tons of options, though does not have a "hold" function) and use that with a DD6. I'd love to try the Repeater but am saving for other things right now.
More love for the repeater. So simple and very versatile! I'm actually selling mine though to pay for my Flashback I just bought.
Im thinking of going with the Flashback for digital or the Ibanez AD9 (or 90) for a nice analog sound. If the Superdelay were closer to 200, I think the search would be over

This is what I use, the ARDX20. Great tone out of this pedal with two banks to switch between different delays. I set one as a slapback and another as a spacey delay.
Nothing wrong with the boss dd delays . I'm using a keeley modded dd2 and a dd7 for reverse now that I dont use my boomerang. I also use an ibanez dm1100 or dm2000 in my rack for short loops and modulated weirdness .
I just tried out the Diamond Memory Lane Jr. and it was killer, especially with the tap tempo and dotted eighth setting. Even though it's digital it had a great analog feel to it. Check out the video on proguitarshop.com
I'm still loving my flashback, but I can also attest to the quality of the Diamond Memory Lane pedals, they are awesome. And hand built in Halifax, Nova Scotia, right next door to me. Plus, those guys are top of the line to deal with, great at answering any questions you might have.
If I were buying a serious delay pedal today, I know which three companies I would be looking at:
TC Electronics: The flasback and nova repeater
Diamond Pedals: The Memory Lane 2 and the Memory Lane Jr.
Empress Effects: The empress vintage modified superdelay is an outstanding delay pedal as well.

Damn, that Memory Lane pedal sure does look pretty sweet. For $600, I would hope it would too! I was gonna buy one until I looked up the price!
Here's a great YouTube demo:

Absolutely, I believe that was a main reason for coming out with the Memory Lane JR, which I believe is about 1/2 the price, or more. Essentially just a great sounding delay, no frills version of the circuit:
