I've pretty much got all of Stash down and want to move on to a slightly harder song. Suggestions? Divided Sky maybe? Something like Reba or YEM might be too hard for now. I dont really have the music knowledge that most of you guys do so its hard to keep up with some of the topics but its all really insightful anyways. thanks
Try Squirming Coil. It's kind of a bitch to play with a band because everybody really has to be solid with their parts, but the guitar part isn't so bad, in fact I thought it was easier than what the other 3 guys in my band had to learn. Also, another one that's very similar (and not too difficult) with lots of key changes like Coil and Stash is Horn.
Funny, Stash was also my first "hard" Phish song that I learned. I think I moved on to Divided Sky next. It's not really all that hard, sans the palindrome part, and the tab on Emil's site (and here, I presume) is almost perfect so if you're using tab to learn, it'll be a snap.
Sans palendrom... Divided sky is fairly easy peasy. Very rewarding. I figured out most of it with the rewind button on my CD player 12+ years ago. Now I get to dicect that frog with Transcribe to garner the finer points.
I'm gonna try Split Open and Melt next, the strange timings and unusual chords sound like a fun challenge. Outside of the bridge Stash wasnt that bad to learn and the solo is so much fun to mess around with. Great jazzy progression
