After a first listen, its meh, OK, not my favorite by him, but it has its moments... Love "Pigtail"
Trey just won't let go of "Let Me Lie" now will he? ;D

It's out now? Itunes says 10/16
I've heard some good things about "Land of Nod" via Twitter. How is that one Stecks? Did you get the pre-order?
I did the preorder and I haven't got it yet. I know they played it on sirius radio and Trey went track by track telling the story of each song. They have replayed that a few times.

Just started listening to Scabbard, reminds me a little of YES. Wow this song is beyond cheesy, is the whole album like this?
I'm going to have to listen to it more than once to get the acquired taste. The percussion is the hardest to swallow.
Overall? Not impressed. It has a series of moments, but the mix sounds way horrible to me on MANY songs. A few songs are very YES or Zappa influenced, only more disjointed and less inspired. But there's some decent hooks, the lyrics are growing on me a little bit....
But if you're looking for our boy doing what he does best - wait for MSG New Years Run. Pigtail to me is the highlight, perhaps Land Of Nod... he brings in some very different musicians than he's played with in the past - to the album's credit, and also to its detriment. Its probably more ambitious than anything he's put out - a valiant effort, but sometimes even A-Rod gets benched in Game 5....
Listen to the opening of Corona carefully an imaging 4 guys playing keys at the same time. Remember?
