I hate changing strings, but I laugh at myself for how I am continually amazed at how much better new strings feel and how much I enjoy playing on new strings.  I'm always like "ahhhh fuck, I need to change my strings again, noooooooooooooo!!!!".....such agony.  And then afterwards I'm like a puppy with a new toy "no shit! wow these feel amazeballs, yesssssssssss!!!!"

Lol, I wouldn't say its agony changing strings, but I definitely put it off far longer than I should, telling myself they still have plenty of sparkle, and I also have the same reaction every time - "Wow, this sounds so much better!"

I guess I might be the only one who enjoys doing guitar maintenance along the lines of string changes?  :o

Yeah changing strings is a not so fun task. Started using D'addarios and those don't last that long.

The only somewhat tedious part of new string day is stretching them out.  I believe in keeping my tools in good working order.  Double entendre intended.

The DR-10 Tite Fit's don't need much stretching at all.

They actually don't need any, according to the information on the inside of every box.

Yeah, I disagree with them on that one.  A little stretching is good for 'em.

The DR's require a little LESS stretching perhaps.. I can change strings and be reasonably comfortably-gig-ready within 2-3 hours...  I've tried GHS, Ernie Testicles, DM, D'addario... DR's feel the best... to this dumbass, anyway.

Stretch is a function of how you wrapped the string around the post.  How many revolutions, spiral up or down, crossing over each other.  You have to stretch enough to get rid of the transient displacement until you reach a rather steady, stable state.
