Your Rig / Power Supply/Powered Pedalboar...
Last post by webephishin - November 30, 2016, 07:18:54 PM
Hey everyone, hoping to get some advice on a good way to clean up all the cords and power supplies I currently have going out my pedalboard.

I have a Gator Pedal tote (larger version) with the following single path of pedals:

Boss tuner (55 mA) > Whammy II (own supply) > Crybaby (43 mA) > Micro Qtron (100mA) > Phase 90 (8.2 mA) > Univibe UV-1 (own supply) > Seymour Duncan SFX-07 tremolo (7mA on, 3 mA bypass) > TS808 RI (7.5 mA) >TS9 silver (7.5 mA) > Ross compressor (1.0 mA) > DD7 w/ FS5U (own supply ONESPOT) > DD6 (own supply ONESPOT)

Right now, the two Boss delays have their own ONESPOTS, The univibe and Whammy II have their own respective power supplies, and the rest of the pedals are daisy chained on 1 ONESPOT.  So, i have tons of chords going everywhere and they plug into a couple surge protectors.  I tried the Gator G-BUS-8-US but it didn't really help much, in fact when i plugged everything it gave off a very louding buzzing through my amp.  The outputs are all 250 mA so it SHOULD have been sufficient in powering the pedals on the daisy chain.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to clean up the clutter of wires/power supplies that will effectively and quietly power all of these pedals?

I think he lets go for not even a second, listen to First Tube: 4:15

This video isnt the best example, Trey abandons the boomerang for delay not too long into this one.

3:40 in this Caspian:

What timing does Trey tap for his reverse leads on the boomerang?

I like it before the ts9s. I use it as an always on thing as well, like a signal buffer. I tried it after the ts9s but didn't like it as much, felt it changed the sound profile of them a little too much.  I think the Silver ts9s have a really soft shimmery sound and when feeding them into the TF it harshens it up a bit to much for me. But Trey has it after them which is sort of interesting. But I moved it before them and couldnt be happier. And if you're planning to use the factor 2 setting, I would probably recommend keeping it before compression because it has a pretty substantial volume spike that you cant really adjust and I feel the compressor helps keep that a little more in check.

I have had my LSS for about three months now, definitely agree with seriesnuns! Excellent fender style clean and the OD channel is usable for me too, thick and chewy on all modes. Still, the higher the master got the better the amp sounds. Just tetubed this morning actually.

I thought I would ask this here instead of starting a new thread. Anyway i have a H&K TF on its way and I was curious where in the chain to run it? Before compression or after? Before or after Ts9? I think I'm gona use it as an always on type of thing. Thanks

I had the special for a couple years ago. I remember it had nice cleans, and the reverb was outstanding. With my vibe it created a gooey delay type feel.

There's a mod where you can get channel 2 to have the same gain structure as channel 1. Make sure you read the manual as amp can do a lot of things. A lot of knobs.

I remember it sounded good with a Weber blue dog, but I couldn't bond with it when I wanted to drive it in either channel 1 with TS or channel 2 with the drive knob.

I havent played a Lone Star but it seems the Classic is better because it uses 6L6's over the Special which uses EL84s.

Bayliss from Umphs still uses a classic with another amp I belive.
