Wah volume problems

So i just got a new vox847 from garmopat and it sounds great but when i turn it on i get a huge jump in volume.  I tried turning the volume on the inside of the pedal town with the trim tool provided and that helped a little bit but the volume is still significantly louder than when its not on. Can anybody help?

there is both volume and gain control. both control the output. try turning the gain down.
