Lately I've been trying to discover new bands to try to draw new musical ideas from.  I've been stuck in the wonder of Phish for a while now (whether thats a good or bad thing i'll let you decide  ;D).  So what are some bands/artists that all of you have been either listening to or influenced by?  All genres are welcome to the discussion!

Pink Floyd, moe., Radiohead, and progressive death metal band Opeth have been getting a lot of playing time recently.

I just saw Katatonia open for Opeth at the Wellmont theater. REALLY awesome musicianship, and both bands have a very unique sound in the crowded modern metal scene.
Guitars: Gibson Les Paul Traditional, 1992 Gibson SG Standard

All of these are great. Dopapod rocks as well, and I definitely rec. listening to them. Archive has a ton of boards.  I listen to the Band (Team Levon!) too for influences with songwriting.

The Band is how its DONE...   Gotta be up there in my top 5 favorite acts..

I guess it all depends on what you want your songrwiting to be.  Stuff I've been into, forever and recently:

Carolina Chocolate Drops, Punch Brothers, Antibalas, Sharon Jones & Dap Kings, Derek Trucks / Tedeschi Trucks Band, Raphael Saadiiq, The Clash, Dinosaur Jr, Faith No More, Portishead, Gogol Bordello, LCD Soundsystem, Beach House, Jerry Douglas, Mastodon, Marc Ribot, Nels Cline, Mike Stern, Drive By Truckers, Mark Ronson, Nine Inch Nails, Pavement / Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks, the Roots, John Legend, Primus, Prince, Robert Glasper, Steely Dan, Television, King Crimson, Legendary Shack Shakers, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Tom Waits, Wood Brothers, tUnE-yArDs, Brazilian Girls, Godspeed You Black Emperor, ...

I listen to a lot of stuff I guess, I love the jam stuff but I kind of always was always into harder stuff and jazz...   and blues ... and basically all music, really.

Schecter C1 Classic - Takamine EG334BC acoustic/electric.  Tuner>volume>VOX wah>TS9> Morley ABY selector/split/combiner, PathA:CS9>BF2>DigiDelay, PathB:envelope filter>AD9, 1971 Fender Twin (slightly modded) amplifier

Seconded... they're basically 3 metronomes playing together.  I think I have everything they've released.  All the stuff they do with John Scofield is A+ as well.  Wood Brothers, also fantastic.
