What is on treys strap.

Maybe I missed this discussion cause I'm new here but can anyone fill me in on what is on treys strap between his guitar and his ts9's etc. Is this a preamp or signal booster. Actually how do I post a pic from my phone. Idiotttt.

I believe it is a buffer of sorts, which I don't get as I like have OD/vibe see the guitar's signal pure. Could be a long cable run, and he probably had BB wire up a really great buffer.
