So I tried this pedal out last night, and it was good.  I wasn't blown away, but it was decent.  The band liked it a lot more than I did and they had some nice things to say about it and encouraged me to buy it.  I definitely noticed a difference in tone, even when the pedal wasn't engaged, and the overall sound coming from my amp was a bit rounder than normal.  Almost a bit muckier, but not too bad.  I did not have it in a loop, I Had it at the end of my effects chain.  I suppose if I purchase one, I should probably get into a switching system, which would also be convenient to have for the Wh2, Nova Delay, Microverb, and the leslie sim (should I start using it again)...and possibly the DM2000, which I don't currently use.  As of right now I run the Wh2, Nova, & Microverb through the effects loop on my amp.

Basically looking for any feedback or opinions on the above.  Thanks in advance.

He's selling the Tremodillo for $140 (seems like a very good price for it, or at least a considerable discount off the retail price of $225) but there's also a Boss TR2 that's had a volume mod done to it going for $125 at a local music store.  I'm wondering if I should try that on out before purchasing the Tremodillo.
Anyone had any experience with either of these pedals?

The new TR-2's have a trimpot on the board that should be factory adjusted to yield no volume drop (can be adjusted for a boost even). Otherwise, you can buy a used one for around $45 and do the mod yourself. Don't pay $125 for a used pedal when the new ones are already up to spec and cheaper ($85 on MF).

Quote1. Significant drop in sound level is most likely caused by:

I. Certain pedals are known to have a volume drop when engaged.
Known pedals with volume loss:
A. Boss TR-2 Tremolo
Fix: If your pedal was made before late 2006, remove the C4 capacitor and change out the R9 (10K) resistor with a 1/4 watt resistor of lower value. 6.8K should yield unity. Values lower than 6.8K will increase the volume further. TR-2's manufactured since late 2006 already have C4 removed from their design, but the R9 change will still help with volume change. Removing C7 will increase the treble.

I always dug Diaz's pedals, and used to have a Tremodillo that I got from Cesar himself before he died, when I was working with Richie Sambora's tech--unfortunately it got stolen from my rig a while back. I think that's a pretty solid price, Benny. I say swipe it up!

And if you need help with a switching system, let me know.

Walker,
Seems to me that you initially got this/or wanted this based on the sound you liked when Trey was using this in the the chalkdust vid. Does either the Diaz or the Boss version have a the variable rate control via expression pedal as an option? Most Trem pedals just have a set it and forget it type use. Treys has a rate and speed which both can be controlled/activated by the a/b box he has next to the expression pedal (which controls the specific trem function). Thats what was so cool about this effect is that it can be controlled on the fly. Is that what you ultimately want this new purchase to accomplish? Or rather do you want "live" variable rate and speed control as an option?
