The day has come, my wah pedal has finally bit the biscuit.  The first pedal I  ever owned.  So I am in the market, as it were and looking for suggestions.....true bypass is a requirement.  Should I just get a modded crybaby from garmopat mods?  RMC?

I dropped 8 wah pedals at walker's for him to try. Everything from vintage to modded. I think he should chime in.

Forbin, weird coincidence since my Crybaby just crapped out last night, only because it's about the 20th time I've swapped out the vocal mod resistor.  But I think I can save it.

Yeah go with Garmo, RMC, or a Whipple Wah.

Forbin I would love to try to salvage your original wah.  I'll give it a shot if you want.  If I can fix it I'll get it back to you and I can do some other cheap mods to it if you want.  Let me know.

Thanks for the offer Happy, I just might do that.  I have an email out to Gary, so I'll going to see what he thinks about the whole thing.  Seems like a stellar guy.

Yeah no rush or worries if it doesn't happen.  What failed on the wah by the way? Symptoms?

Yeah dude, it's very unreliable.  Sometimes when I kick it on, it mutes my entire signal...that is itself I could live with.  But now, when I kick it on, it emits a very piercing high pitched feedback out of my amp, if only for a second until I can get the rocker back.  Very unsettling for my bandmates, and myself as you could imagine.  I also feel like the sweep just isn't what it should be/used to be.  So I need to determine whether I should get it looked at, or whether I should just get a new one.

Walker done done

At first response, I would go with a Vox847 modded by Gary @ Garmopat.  Very versatile.

However, as I am making my through this wah tryout, I've learned a lot.  Please note I do not have a final verdict on all of them yet - I will once I've had a chance to apply them all in a full band setting.  The one I like the best so far is the Thomas Organ Company wah - friggin' awesome right out of the gate.  If you can find one, I'd buy it.  So far I have not been impressed with the Whipple, nor the Area 51 wah.  I did not open any of the wahs up to mess with internal controls, so that should be noted as well.

I will give a full run down/review once I've completed the test.

Please note this is just a test.  If it were a real emergency from the emergency broadcast system, I'd tell you to turn on, tune out, and plug in.
