So I've grown quite bored of the sound of my crybaby, I find myself wanting a wah with more high pass (or maybe some tweak-ability at the very least).  I've been growing fond of Hunter Brown's (guitarist for STS9's) tone, especially the wah he uses here in the song Poseidon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLQyBaENERQ&t=22m10s).  I really like the sweep on his wah, if anyone knows anything like it (from what I can tell STS9 is pretty quiet about their rigs (HB has one pedal he's only publicly referred to as his "secret stash")).

I also have an opportunity to scoop a Teese Wizard Wah at a decent price if anyone knows anything about em.

Been using the Wizard wah since Feb 2012.... I love it because I HATE bright wah pedals that are too trebley (I already use a bright tone) so it does the cow-funk real well (I also always have the comprosser on after the wah), but most people on forums I read don't prefer this wah because it IS darker than most.

Whenever I read wah threads anymore people always give many shouts to the Xotic wah and the Budda wah.... Check those out.

Can you point me to the time in the video where you want me to listen? 50 minutes in?  Anyway I have the CAE wah and it has 2 inductors you can switch between.  The yellow Fasel is a brighter 70's porn style tone and the red Fasel is a throatier, deeper Alice in Chains style tone.  Pretty slick.  And you can tweek the trimpots inside.  Anyway I can mod any wah you need as well; adjust sweep, hump, shift hump, volume, etc.

I don't know about STS9. I've been very happy with my Mini Dunlop Wah. People love the Vintage setting, which is apparently like their Hendrix Wah: a bit more midrange focused, so not shrill at toe down and not muddy at heal down. Its also small! I usually have a love-hate thing with Wah, but I've kept this around a while. I've had a couple Budwah pedals too and like them for the same reason: midrange focused. However, my experience is that some Budwah pedals sound better than others. There are threads about it - IIRC there are some difference PCB's out there - so you might be able to identify one that will sound better.

I've been toying of selling my Teese RMC3FL. Its an awesome wah - I just never use it and need some funds to bridge the gap between my last months amp purchases and sales - the wife has caught on  ;D.

You can dial in any tone you want.  Prob gonna sell my Analogman delay too.  Downsizing my board.

Let me know if you're interested - I was gonna put it on Reverb, TGP and here eventually.  I can email some photos if you are.  Its like new, never left my basement.

Cool got it.  That sounds like my CAE Wah using the Red Fasel inductor setting with a mild TS-9 or similar OD pedal on.  The thing about a wah is that it may sound crisp and clean without an OD pedal on, but as soon as you kick on an OD, that wah hump has many more decibels than your bypass signal, and it's always going to saturate the tone and it can get a bit nasty.  I'm almost always switching to coil tap when I use my wah with OD and even back off the guitar volume to like 1 or 2.  That's just my preference.  It would be cool to make a separate loop that had a buffer pedal with lower volume and a dedicated OD just for this purpose, then I wouldn't need to do so much quick hand action.

That was my problem with the CAE. Really cool pedal and IIRC I preferred the more midrange-focused red fasel, but I recall it also boosted my signal and make that spanky clean funky rhythm wah sound difficult to get without adjusting volume or coil-tapping. Thats actually when I ended up selling the CAE pretty soon after I got it. I notice that with a lot of wah pedals to some degree.

Regarding the RMC3, I thought it was a cool pedal, but damn hard to dial in! If I ever got one again, I'd get a front-loaded version: having the controls inside the pedal means leaving it open on the bottom and flipping it over every time you want to adjust it. Once I got something dialed in, I closed the bottom and never wanted to go through that again. I just sold the pedal instead of continuing to tweak it.

Cool Heady.  So your Mini Wah doesn't have that huge volume spike?

Not as much - in my current settings, I don't get any overdrive with the wah turned on. I'm using a clean boost > comp for my clean tone, along with a really clean setting on my Mesa.

I will say, though, that the Mini in the Vintage setting is pretty subtle. It got a lot of praise when it came out, but I also imagine some people want a more drastic sound.

PS - also worth saying I have a love-hate relationship with Wah pedals. I always want one on my board, but I always find reasons to be annoyed or frustrated with it. The mini is small enough that I don't just rip the velcro off and throw it on eBay: its worth the real-estate because I know I'll just buy another wah! It is has been my favorite because it is subtle.

+1 on the RMC3FL. I had an old gray box RMC3 for a long time and having the controls on the front is much easier to tweak.
