If I sold my 64 deluxe ( non-reverb ) I would ask $1500. I don't think that is unreasonable. Worth every penny. Try building the same amp with vintage solid pine cabinet and all vintage parts. It'll cost you. That being said, I think 70's silverface amps are under rated and can be had for a lot less money. I just picked up a '75 twin reverb for $600 and I'm very happy with that purchase. You can buy clone amps for less money but after you spend that money, you'll never get it all back. A vintage amp that says fender on it will always hold it's value and probably be worth more when you decide to let it go.

Actually, it costs about 300 dollars to build the same thing from the ground up. Trust me.

I don't think they will always hold their value. They're already going for a thousand less than what they were consistently going for (on ebay) in 2006.
By the time the economy pulls out of this recession, most of those people who even know what the fuck a vintage fender is, and why it is so "important," from a commodity fetish standpoint, will be dead.

$600 is great for a '75 twin reverb.

I guess my point in posting these two links was to highlight how great of a buy the first one is (the [non-reverb] Deluxe) compared to the second (Deluxe w/ reverb).  I mean, there's no way the presence of reverb is going to hold weight in the future -- all that's going to matter is that it is a pristine '65 Fender amplifier -- if you're going to buy this from a collector's standpoint.  And from a player's standpoint, it's an even better buy, because you get everything you would get with a Deluxe Reverb except for the shitty reverb that most people unplug, removing the reverb stage from the signal path.

I definetly agree with that. I noticed that this amp didn't need reverb as soon as I plugged into mine for the first time. And by the way, if it only cost $300 to build one, let me know how to pull that off. I've looked before and had a hard time just finding a good solid pine cabinet for that much. I'll pay you twice that if you build me one.

Hm.. you got me there.  I wasn't thinking about the pine cab...especially a good one, which, as you say, can get a little expensive.

just about everything digitech made after the wh-2 is complete shit. somewhere in between foreign assembly line pcb, and mickey mouse club digital encoding software, digitech has consistantly sucked at everything its ever done. hell even the wh2 is only neat because it freaks out when clipping.

i would slightly disagree over the reverb tank on a DR. probably not why you would think. i used to never use the reverb at all, its noisy, and has a pretty card board flavor to it. but after researching some of the finer points of steve kimocks rig, i changed my mind. combined with a boutique reverb rack and pedal, i can get all sorts of great tones with it barely turned on. something about combining the tank, with a couple of flavors of space, and its gold jerry!

Other than the generic appearance of the adjective, "shiny," this is entirely unrelated to the point I was trying to make to Stephanski.  That being said, I am always happy to see other people getting annoyed at the bullshit that is sold, even if we wouldn't be so stupid as to ever want such a thing (in this case, a shiny, chrome-plated whammy).

Waaaahahahahahahahaa!!  It's the same crappy pedal....except SHINY!!!  This way when you look down, you can see your stupid face looking back at you wondering why you bought this piece or crap!  WTF is going on in the world/who thought this was a good idea?
