Need good affordable practice amp

Im taking a jazz ensemble class next year and I need a good practice amp that I could take to and from class everyday.  Maybe in the $70 or less price range if possible.   Any suggestions?

go on ebay, get a Electro Harmonix 22 Caliber Its the size of your wallet. Bullet proof reliable. Works with anything, guitar, mics, bass, keys etc. Just a damned good toy to have around all the time. You could plug it into a 8inch mini cab for superior practice tone. Fucka shit little amp.

Those would probably make a good monitor. Split your signal to it and power a small cab.

A clean, dependable solid state power amp is a great option. Your just being a negative nancy. They are reliable, have a solid clean sound, plenty of volume, really compact, competitive warranty... I can think of about a half dozen of my friends who use the Magnum 44 after my recommendation, this line of products from EHX work. The Mag 44 can power a full stack at painfully loud volume.

Funny how you read that as being negative. I was just thinking out loud of another use for those things. I was also thinking you could use it for vocals for practice jams. Is that negative too? Maybe someday you can call me nancy to my face.

welp saturday night at a show, in a gear emergency, late night set, we did discover it wont work with a multi track non powered mixer, however it will push a single mic direct through it ok. I cant really get why, but I havent been able to fool with it anymore. There is a small chance my buddy forgot to plug in the cab/input before powering up. We were on a wedge stage, with the amps piled up along a wall, so when the house power amp shit the bed, we tried to rig it on the fly. no go

I just recently got a Fender Champion (just the new one) on Ebay for $130 new.  I get really good jazz tones out of it when using my Ibanez AS-80.  I also use my Microverb to add a little reverb to it and it sounds surprisingly great!

I have a little (older) Champion 110 that I sometimes use at home for practicing.  Nice little amp.  The reverb in mine is all out of whack though...if I move it while it's on it makes this horrible shrill sound.  Almost sounds like the noise the sword would make in the first (or second?) Zelda if you tried to stick your sword into some bricks lol.

Ended up going with a roland micro cube i found on ebay for 55$ pretty decent little amp.  Good enough for what I'll need it for.
