In this Vid Niel Young is playing Treys back-up doc, Any one know what that middle pickup is on the back up.

Do you think that the Doc has coil tapping capabilities.

Sweet video!  I always thought my improv was close to Neil Young style.  I dig.

Oh, while on the subject, how often does Trey use the coil tapping (single coil) setting?  I would guess only on certain cover songs where he wants more of a Strat sound, but not sure.

According to the Clifford Ball DvD, the pickup wasn't removed. And he used it quite frequently throughout the phestival.

One of my favorite tones on my doc is the coil dropped parrallel position, both mini toggles up. It's kind of a spanky straty sound with balls. Not sure how much Trey uses that position. Maybe in tunes like Yammar, and the bluegrassy songs.
